It’s invigorating to try something new. For the past 22 years, I’ve been an Iowa transplant. Not bad for a guy with a TV contract that was originally two years, huh? I realized the other day that I’ve now lived in Iowa for more than half my life (started in Illinois, then Missouri and Alabama). Along the way in the Hawkeye State, I met my wife (Emily, my former weekend TV anchor competitor), had a son (Hayden is 12) and a daughter (Lyla is 7).
During my time in Iowa, I’ve primarily focused on local, state and national politics. I don’t know how to estimate how many politicians I’ve interviewed over the years? Hundreds? More than a thousand? Is that even possible?! Caucuses, blowouts, upsets, a tie-breaker determined by picking a piece of paper from a candy dish. So many memories.
People fascinate me. So do the challenges that we face together. And there are many. Let’s explore.
Come along with me in this new space. We’ll talk about what’s happening, what it means and where we’re headed. Oh, my kids want to go to college. So if you’re able, we’d appreciate you becoming a paid subscriber.
Here’s to new frontiers.
So glad to have you in the collab, Dave! Have fun.
