I have thought a lot this weekend about Jack Whitver. He is 43, a former Iowa State University football standout, the top Iowa senate Republican and a potential gubernatorial candidate one day.
I lobbied Jack Whitver in March for some mental healthcare bills and was really shocked and saddened to learn of his serious health condition this weekend. I can only imagine how challenging this legislative session must've been.
Hopefully he is dealing with a non cancerous tumor. It seems brain tumors are more common now in todays world . I have known 5 people immediate friends and family (a young daughter) who passed away from Glioblatoma tumors in the brain, I was hit with a benign brain tumor in 2020 myself, recovery takes some work even though though I did not have chemo . Maybe soon , they can get these treated easier and find some cures for the bad ones that impact families the most .
